Become a Foster Parent or Volunteer

Animals are euthanized each and every day so foster parents are always in demand. As foster parents, we are responsible for providing the appropriate shelter for our foster pets. In addition, the foster parent must administer vaccinations, deworming medications, flea and heartworm preventative as well as scheduling and transport for sterilization surgeries. Pound Puppies and Kittens, Inc. supplies all of the veterinary medications and vaccines and reimburses the foster parent for food and other supplies, evidenced by a receipt. Finally, foster parents take the animals to any of the adoption days at participating PETsMART stores (Conyers and Snellville). Here, the foster parent answers questions to potential adopters and is responsible for contracts, sterilization certificates and donation fee collection (both donation fees and copies of all contractual material is handed in to the director).
Some our our foster parents enjoy solely saving a certain breed of dog. Others, feel it is easier to foster puppies, kittens or adult cats only. Depending on their home, some are able to foster many animals (upwards of 20!) while other may only foster a few. They quantity and type of foster pet therefore depends on our work schedule, space and animal preferences (if any). Even if you can foster only one animal, one life is saved!
If you live in the Walton, Rockdale, Newton county area and are interested in becoming a foster parent, feel free to stop by our adoption days at PETsMART (see schedule under 'adoption information'), contact us via email (top of this page) or by mail (post office box above). Perhaps you cannot foster animals but could help out at adoptions or provide some other services to our group. Any help is greatly appreciated and welcomed!
